System Failure: ACM and CSTA release report on CS education standards; Computing in the Core coalition launched
The report finds that roughly two-thirds of the country have few computer science education standards for secondary school education, and most states treat high school computer science courses as simply an elective and not part of a student's core education. To address these issues, ACM is partnering with major stakeholders in the community to launch a new coalition called Computing in the Core. Read more and download the report.

This presentation was created for a special meeting convened by CSTA and ISTE on behalf of the National Science Foundation. It describes the current context for change efforts in K-12 education, including the myriad and competing forces that attempt to impact what happens in the classroom. It looks at the role of change agents and also outlines several of the key stakeholders and the ways in which proposed changes must address their primary professional goals.

He spent 8 weeks teaching computer science to 9th grade students in South Africa and working to make technology accessible in the larger community. He teaches CS at Ralph J. Bunche, an alternative education high school in Oakland, CA.

The Level I Objectives and Outlines document presents learning objectives and sample educational activities for Level I as described in "A Model Curriculum for K-12 Computer Science: Final Report of the ACM K-12 Task Force Curriculum Committee." The Level I foundational material is recommended for all students in grades K-8.
